WEEE was among five other companies which were awarded after following a competition organized by the Kenya Catalytic Job Fund, which was looking for companies that develop innovative solutions to provide job opportunities for the youth.

Chief Executive Officer, Bonnie Mbithi, speaking during the announcement of the
project, said that the project was aimed at involving the youth in formal and
informal sectors in e-waste collection activities that would aid the country in
the fight against climate change while enabling the youth to utilize their time
in productive activities.
